Health Awareness Session with Journalists at Kotri Press Club

The Sindh Skills Development Program (SSDP) organized health awareness session with journalists on June 17, 2017 at Kotri Press Club. Journalists of different Newspapers & TV channels and members of Sindh Adabi Sangat participated in the session. Session conducted to aware journalists regarding Hepatitis B & C; as they could report correctly and message of health awareness shall spread on maximum extent through media. SSDP Coordinator Mr. Hussain Laghari formally introduced SSDP, SANA and its ongoing projects. He said “SSDP is working on career counseling, health awareness and education; SSPD has trained more than 80,000 students of high schools on Hepatitis B & C in seven districts. This session is for journalists as they shall report Hepatitis B & C correctly and convey our message to people.” Then presentation presented on Hepatitis B & C by SSDP Health Educator Ms. Shakeela Panhwar. She described Hepatitis B & C, mode of its transmissions and preventions measures. She said “Hepatitis is a major health issue; millions of people in Sindh are affected by this disease. Hepatitis transmits through blood (use of used blades/razers, getting unprotected blood and any other mean of blood transmission) and intercourse between couples. Media person have effective voice; we request you to convey this message to people through your reports and writings.” President of Press Club Kotri Mr. Dhani Bux, Information Secretary Mr. Abdul Jabbar and other designated persons appreciated SSDP’s initiative and said “learning from the session will reflect in our reporting and message of this event will be conveyed with people.”
